Vaera is an Earth-origin lineage. It was neither introduced from beyond Earth nor created by humans. Its biology belongs to the same distant biochemical history shared by terrestrial life.

The lineage leading ultimately to Vaera diverged during the Late Devonian, approximately 383–359 million years before the present, within a lung-using, lobe-finned tetrapodomorph population.

These ancestral populations occupied unstable boundaries between freshwater systems, estuaries, tidal flats, and periodically exposed terrestrial environments. Survival across such changing habitats favored organisms capable of functioning under more than one set of environmental conditions.

From this early divergence emerged an evolutionary history distinct from the lineages that would later produce humans and other familiar modern forms. Its subsequent transformations occurred over geological time rather than through a single abrupt transition.

Much later, approximately 270 million years ago, descendants within this lineage began a second and increasingly consequential return to aquatic environments. This transition eventually contributed to the emergence of the vaeriform radiation and its four known branches: Silar, Nerai, Elyra, and Vaera.

Vaera represents one surviving outcome of that ancient history: a lineage shaped by repeated environmental transitions, deep evolutionary continuity, and an origin entirely within the biological history of Earth.
